Once There Was A Poor Brahmin In A Small Village. He Was Very Educated, But Did Nothing All Day. He Lived On The Alms That The Villagers Gave Him Every Day.
One Day, As Usual, The Brahmin Got Up In The Morning, Performed His Morning Rituals, And Went To Beg. When He Went Door To Door, People Gave Him Several Things. Some Gave It.
Others Gave Him Rice And Still Others Vegetables. But One Generous Woman Gave The Brahmin A Lot Of Flour.
“O! What A Fortune. ”I Won’t Have To Ask For A Long Time, The Brahmin Thought.
He Went Home And Made Himself Dinner. After Dinner, The Brahmin Put Flour Into A Large Earthen Pot And Hung It Near His Bed. He’d Be Safe From The Rats Now, He Told Himself, Lying Down On His Bunk And Taking An Afternoon Nap.
He Began To Think, “I Will Keep This Torment Until The Famine Comes. Then I Will Sell At A Very Good Price. For This I Will Buy A Couple Of Goats. Very Soon I Will Have A Large Herd Of Goats. I Will Make More Money From Their Milk.
Then I Will Buy A Cow And A Bull. Very Soon, I Will Also Have A Large Herd Of Cows. Their Milk Will Make Me A Lot Of Money. I Will Become Very Rich.
I Will Build Myself A Huge Palace And Marry A Beautiful Woman, Then We Will Have A Little Son. I Will Be A Proud Father. After A Few Months, The Son Will Begin To Crawl. He Will Be Mischievous, And I Will Be Very Worried That He Might Do Harm.
I’ll Call My Wife To Take Care Of Him. But She Will Be Busy With Housework And Will Ignore My Call. I’ll Be So Angry. I’ll Kick Her To Teach Her Such A Lesson.”
The Brahmin Threw Up His Leg. His Foot Hit The Flour Pot Hanging Over His Head, And He Fell With A Crash, Scattering Flour On The Dirty Floor. The Lazy Brahmin Realized That His Stupidity And Vanity Cost Him A Precious Measure Of Torment.
Laziness, And Stupidity Taught Him A Lesson. After That, He Led An Active Life That Reached Heights.
