Wait For The Brick Story
a young and successful leader was driving down a nearby street, moving too fast in his new jaguar. he watched the children running out from behind the parked cars and slowed down when he thought he saw something.
when his car passed, no children appeared. instead, a brick crashed into the side door of the cogwheel! he hit the brakes and drove the notchback to where the brick had been thrown. The enraged driver then jumped out of the car, grabbed the nearest child, and pushed him towards the parked car, shouting, “What was that, and who are you? just what the hell are you doing? this is a new car and the brick you threw will be worth a lot of money. why did you do that?
“the boy apologized.” Please mister… please excuse me … I didn’t know what else to do, “he pleaded.” I threw the brick because no one else would stop … “with tears dripping down his face and chin, the young man pointed to a place next to the parked car. “This is my brother,” he said. “He rolled off the curb and fell out of the wheelchair, and I cannot pick him up.”
Now, sobbing, the boy asked the stunned leader : “Please help me get him back into the wheelchair? He is injured and too heavy for me.” Unable to convey the words, the driver tried to swallow a quickly swollen lump in his throat. a fashionable handkerchief and dabbed fresh scratches and cuts. A quick glance told him that everything would be fine.
“Thank you and God bless you,” the grateful child said to the stranger. Too shocked to speak, the man just looked like a little boy k pushes his brother in a wheelchair down the sidewalk towards their house. it was a long, slow way back to the jaguar. the damage was very noticeable, but the driver never bothered to fix the dented side door.
he left a dent there to remind him of this message: don’t go through life so fast that someone has to throw a brick at you to get your attention!
