The Ugly Tree Story

Once upon a time, a forest had straight and beautiful trees but in this forest, there was a tree whose trunk was curved, arched and very different from all the other trees around it. The twisted tree often sighed for its ugly look. He used to look longingly at other tall and slender trees and felt sad for his ugly appearance. The branches of this tree were also twisted.

The other trees were laughing and making fun of this tree calling it a hunchback. This made the tree very sad. Every time he looked at the other trees, he sighed, “I wish I was like the other beautiful trees. God has been so cruel to me! One day, a woodcutter came to the forest to chop wood. He saw the humpbacked tree and collapsed: “This crooked tree is of no use to me! Better not cut that. And then he cut down all the straight, smooth trees.

The woodcutter forged ahead sparing the twisted tree. The hunchbacked tree then understood that God had saved his life by making him a crooked tree. The tree thanked his dishonesty and never sighed for his ugly appearance in the future. He was very grateful to God.
